oliversogard asked: Hey Jonathan.
Are you getting Papercuts or Genesis v2?
Which style do you like the most?
Also, for how long have you been doing cardistry?

_Oliver

Hey Oliver!,

I am actually planning on purchasing Genesis v2. Mostly because I have the first volume of Genesis. More importantly though because I am not the biggest fan of Hestnes’ material. I think Papercuts is going to look great, but in the end it isn’t for me.

I am a much bigger fan of Andrei’s style. To me he has nicer feel, approach, smoothness and overall creativity to his cardistry.

I personally have only been flourishing for 4 years. I say only because it is a short ammount of time compared to the pros. However, I am very passionate about the art and I love it to death. I plan to be a cardisit forever.

Thanks for asking,

Anonymous asked: Ok first off I just want to let you know some hints about who I am! I am in your biology class andi was at the talent show(and in it). Haha so anyways..... my question is: who encourages you the most to pursue your card manipulating talents and do you ever get bored doing it?

Well I would have to guess that you are Kari!

Anyways, my main inspiration comes from moments like the talent show. Hearing the applause was a real motivator to keep going. Yes, there are certain people and certain other things like music, pictures, and life that can be inspiring, but having experiences and knowing the potential that this art has is what really keeps me going.

Anonymous asked: What is your favorite cardistry video on the internet atm?

First let me just say that I love this question!

For me it is nearly impossible to choose a favorite because there is so much talent out there, and I love videos from 2008 all the way till now. I can’t really choose an ultimate favorite because I love so many. I can however pick a few that I really really like. Here we go.

“Tally-Ho Playing Cards” - Michael James

“In the Cards” - Andrei Jikh

“Raw” - Michael James

“Blackpool 2010” - Allen Hagen

“No name” - Tobias Levin

Anonymous asked: What is your favorite deck of cards?

My all time favorite deck of cards is the Erdnase deck. I literally love those cards. They are perfect out of the box, they have the perfect amount thickness/thinness, and they handle perfectly, too! If I could only use one deck the rest of my life it would be the Erdnase deck.

lestarlight asked: On the video "generic achievements" you did a flaring that I really want to learn, where can I find it? Is it a Andrei Jikh move? Because I saw you did a bullet on your other hand while executing it. Thank you very much.

The flare starts as my “Vice Versa” routine (also seen in ‘My Reality Is My Dear’), but halfway into it I threw in “Bullet” by Andrei Jikh. The right hand though continues “Vice Versa” + an extra spin I was working on. I haven’t released it yet, so I’m sorry, but no, you won’t find it anywhere.

Anonymous asked: how many decks of cards do you own at this point?

I actually don’t collect decks. I collect single cards. So, for every new deck of cards I use I put a single card from that deck away. I’m in the process of making a poster out of all the single cards I have.

Thanks for asking,

Jon R.
